These shoes fit great out of the box, no breaking in required! They are very comfortable and supportive. I recently developed arthritis in my hips and knees, and these are very helpful! It is my second pair - we purchased Orthofeet hiking boots for a walking trip. Throwing out some of my older shoes now!
